Called to Serve, part II

Can you believe it?
I'm going to Argentina.

In fact, in 88 days I will be reporting to the MTC. I'll be wearing a Spanish missionary name-tag, that I won't even know how to say. Six weeks later. I will be in a different hemisphere.

So with that said. I love and will miss you all. Just don't forget about me in three months.

October 31, 2012---it was a surreal day for me. I don't think i can properly catch the emotions of the day. I had some time to myself before I opened my call, which was probably my most valuable and sacred time of the day. I have been trying to keep a better record of the more spiritual parts of my life, like Nephi's "small plates," and I am a much faster speaker than writing, so I have been recording my journal entries. And knowing me, i love to talk, so its not a problem for me to basically interview myself. I spoke as if I was talking to my kids--which I really hope they'll appreciate some day.

I have shared my thoughts many times about what it has meant to serve a mission. But its different now that I have a call. I have a mission. I have a group of people waiting to hear the gospel.

Preparing for a mission has changed my mindset, attitude, and the way I interact with others. I am now realizing how important the way we think influences our actions and decisions.

In the most humble way I can express this, I am so grateful that I have lived a life the best I can in accordance with God's commandments so that I was worthy the very minute the prophet issued the age change. It makes me think of President Monson's quote, "When the time for decision arrives, the time for preparation has passed."

I feel the Lord's hand was very involved with how fast and quickly I was able to put my papers in, because I needed to leave so soon. Sooner than anyone excepted. And my roommate really helped me recognize this large tender mercy.

I still am in shock. Me...Argentina...Spanish?

The greatest thing I learned from opening my mission call that Wednesday night was that the Lord knows there is an Emily Lewis. The Lord knows where I need to be. There are lessons I need to learn, challenges I need to climb, and people I need to meet.

So....let the missionary revolution begin of goodness, truth, and love. There is a God in Heaven who is in the very details of our life.

I am thrilled to be an ambassador of the Lord in the land of Argentina.
The Church has implemented a Pre-MTC training program...it tracks your progress and has a countdown until you enter the MTC. I'm so excited.
THATS MY MISSION! It covers about 4 provinces. So...I better like to walk, alot.

Love,

Hermana Lewis
