the unseen blessings

It was last saturday, and I was scheduled to work.
so...being in south of campus that i am, i had about a 40 min walk ahead of me.
those 40 mins of peace, solitude, and just pure silence on earlier in the morning outside was just pure beauty.

It was one of those moments you just didn't want to escape from or forget about.

While I walked, i prayed. I thanked Heavenly Father for where I was, for what I was doing, for allowing so many blessings to given to me abundantly. I know they counsel us to refrain from using vain repetition in our prayers....but I thank Heavenly Father for these things everyday.

But, as much as I love all the beauty around me....there is something i love more. The blessings that are unseen, the happiness felt inside, the radiance of peace.

I see the mountains, the trees...I can hear the birds, the ducks....I see happy people, and children....I can hear the voice of my mom and dad, and my nieces and nephews telling me they love me.
I can count these blessings, and it is usually things like these that fill the lines in my journal of gratitude.

However, it is not often enough though, that the blessings that fill the lines are ones that are sacred and unseen. Blessings that might not always be expressed in words or thoughts....

These blessings surround my heart with deep gratitude. These blessings that are pure and sacred.

One that you know He knows you.
A blessing that you know He loves you.

These blessings are the ones I will search out for....that will continue to overflow my heart with gratitude.

"O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
thou understandest my thought afar off....
thou compassest my path...and art acquainted with all my ways
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me....
Even there shall thy hand lead me, and they right hand shall hold me."

Psalms 139: 1-10

  1. Loved this! I was just listening to a conference talk about how we need to be more aware of our blessings and to write them down along with impressions we get because they are sacred and important......you do such a good job at this!
