"Something Extradiordinary" --DIMK

Hopefully, if everything goes as planned, Friday's will from here on out, be a day when I post something from "Daughters in My Kingdom." This book is simply wonderful. I admit, I have hardly opened it...but the times I have I have been amazed out how wonderful and inspired this book is for us.

As part of my calling I asked that we have one minute each Sunday during the opening exercises to have a "visiting teaching minute," and that they also have a "Relief Society history minute" taken directly from the Daughters in My Kingdom book. It has been absolutely wonderful. I was afraid that the sisters would get sick of hearing from me each week share a thought about Visiting Teaching--so I have a rotation between the Supervisors and I and it has proved to be effected--(our Relief Society has the highest stats in the stake! And these stakes mean...All of Wyview apts., part of another Apt. Complex.)

Do yourself a favor and watch this 2 minute film that really brought this Daughters in My Kingdom book alive.

This weeks short thought is taken from Chapter 1: A Restoration of an Ancient Pattern

"The world's greatest champion of woman and womanhood is Jesus the Christ."--James E. Talmage
It is interesting to see over the course of the New Testament how women played a vital role in the Saviors ministry. Although some were named and unnamed, they all exercised faith in Jesus Christ, "learned and lived His teachings, and testified of His ministyr, miracles, and majesty. These women became exemplary disciples and important witnesses in the work of Salvation."
The women of the church had great faith then during Christ's time, they had faith when the Relief Society was organized, and now we too can have a great amont of faith today. Faith is the foundation of which we build our testimony. Although we can't be like Mary and Martha who were active participants during the Lord's ministry--but we can do so today in our actions everyday. Are our actions moving us forward to becoming more like Christ and proclaiming His gospel. After all, we as members of the Church hold a responsibility to share His gospel. It is The Church OF Jesus Christ OF Latter-Day Saints. The "OF" indicates who's ownership it is..and I believe we hold a part in the ownership of Christ. We have a mandate to serve His children on earth--and we are so lucky to be here on this earth to do so.
