sunshine & star struck

I have three items of business to share with you.
First, a new season calls for a new reason to change the face-lift of the blog. so there. I did it. maybe its a winner, maybe its not, but for now...it will do.

Second, i've been officially star struck. The other day I was working at my register at the MTC and an Elder David Archuleta is in sight through my peripherals. I was about to go put something away, until i notice that he looked strangely familiar. Then i realized, oh yeah, I just drooled over him when he was on American Idol--no bid deal right? So i quickly placed the item back down, and promptly announced i could help whoever was next. He came up to my register--let the record show, he was much shorter than anticipated, he's off the list for sure now, but he was giving me a disclaimer that he didn't think he had enough money to buy his laundry bag. I told him that there was still a discount and that we could just check just in case. I mean come one...please stay at my register as long as possible. Ironically enough, he didn't have enough money to buy the laundry bag--shocker. I was promptly going to hand over my life savings or pay the difference or whatever but he said he'd come back on Wednesday and buy it. I was star struck to say the least. As soon as I got off work, i promptly called my mom announcing the news. I think she was more excited then I was. :)
yep, met him.  be jealous.

Thirdly--and all joking aside--life is wonderful. Despite the finals, assignments, tests, I am just happy. I know that there is God in Heaven that loves us. There is no way that all the tender mercies I have been blessed with lately just happen by chance. nope, no way. It is just miraculous.
The simplest of things like--my professor extended a quiz deadline by 1 day, or how i was running late for work and someone stopped and gave me a ride, or how i make it out the door every morning, or the abundance in food we have. The beauty all around me just testifies that there is a creator. "Under the direction of His Father, He (Jesus Christ) was the creator of the earth. 'All things were made by Him, and without Him, was not anything made that was made.'(John 1:3)" --The Living Christ.
So...in our everyday life, find the sunshine that is there--in the real life--that we live in. As mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers. I came across a quote by Joseph Fielding Smith from 1905 that said...
"Those things which are extradionary, remarkable, or unusal may make history, but they do not make real life. After all, to do well those things which God ordained to be common lot of all mankind, is the truest greateness. To be a successful father or a successful mother is greater than to be a successful general or a successful statesman."

p.s. i've officially completed 1/10th of my goal! only 900 more to go! (that should be easy, right?)
and if you don't want to read all of them...at least read #38. :)

this is the best week of my entire existence

this has been the best week of my life on so many levels.
a. i went to the temple. that puts me in the best mood immediately.
b. i went to institute.

but after institute i drove home to look on line to see that......

I'VE BEEN ACCEPTED TO BYU-PROVO!

This was a dream come true! I've been wanting to go to BYU since I came out of my mothers womb. Seriously.
My cousin, friend and mother all knew that i was accepted before i was!
Since I was at institute, my cousin called me to say that she didn't see my name in the  "byu directory", and so to me that meant I hadn't been accepted (turns out she just spelt my name wrong when looking m up). So i started crying as I drove home. I had been expecting to get rejected this whole time, so it was bearable, but I was still disappointed. So when I came home, I told my mom not to bother to even come in the room with me to check if I had been accepted since I was expecting the rejection. So with my heart pounding, i made a few clicks on the computer, and it popped up. When I read "admitted" on the screen, my mind read it as "rejected". My heart sank, I looked again, and than I read it correctly. "ADMITTED." I almost died. I started bawling and hugging my mother so tightly I think I squeezed all the air out of her. I have never cried-screamed-hugged so much in my life as that moment. This truly is a miracle that I made it in. But I am so grateful to be attending the Harvard of the West!

But some even greater news....
BYU called me today concerning a scholarship I filled out in the beginning of Feb. I'll spare you the details, but I almost didn't apply for it because I was certain I wasn't going to get accepted to BYU. I got home late from work, I didn't feel like doing it, I couldn't figure out where the link was to submit it, the list goes on. Yet, Lynette kept encouraging me to do it. So i busted it out in about an hour and turned it in. And rewarded myself to Pride & Prejudice afterwards.
Little did I know how valuable that hour was spent.

I WON THE LEADERSHIP & HUMANITARIAN SCHOLARSHIP
(ie half tuition!)

sorry for gloating....but this has just been the best week of my life.

And....it keeps getting better, my camera came!
(here are a few favorite pictures)

a fine frenzi

Hold the phone. I know you were probably thinking of the amazing music artist "a fine frenzy", but i hate to disappoint you.

I'm talking about a different frenzi!

Yes.. YUM is right. Just the THOUGHT of it made my mouth drool. I am noticing that that{the drooling part of food} is definitely a motif in my lift.
This frenzi place is identical to a yocream, etc, but this one is on the same street as my school {read: when i decide to skip school to satisfy my senioritis--which i tell mom its for a "mental health break" purpose}...i'll be sitting here, on that white chair, feet propped, and enjoy my non-fat frozen yogurt.

speaking of food, for histories sake, i rised and shined at 6AM on a non-school day {no, no holiday, my schools just so poor they have to close school down 2 times a month--trust me, i'm NOT complaining :)}  to eat breakfast with some real old people {like 4 times my age old}. But hey, it was free, so thank you dear Gresham Kiwansis Early-Risers Club. :)

I'm off for Seattle tomorrow for an All-Northwest Convention for choir. Is it bad that this is such an honor...and i don't want to go. Oh well.

For the record, I am, as of today, officially hooked to Grey's Anatomy!
Please say there are other addicts out there with me!?

peace and love.
