reunion of 156.

it snowed here on sunday.
and i admit that ever since then i have been celebrating this snow with copious doses of hot chocolate.
alright, so don't judge.

to break the fast I invited my summer roommates from wells 156 to come over and eat lunch.
it was an excellent excuse for me to actually cook something--other then instant oatmeal (which is proving to work as a stable diet these days).
i made some corn chowder (but it was so much better than last time). or, maybe it just tasted so good because i was fasting.....i haven't really decided yet. :)

my roommates (i can't believe i forgot to get a picture of us) and i, headed up to the CES fireside to hear President Boyd K. Packer. I surely hope that was not the last time we will hear from him. He loves the doctrine so much--and he is such an example to me because of the amount of influence he has had with CES. CES has been a big part of my life---and will hopefully be my profession!

A few notes from his talk:

-he counseled to "keep our spiritual debt paid off"--don't postpone repentance. do it now.
-he began by saying, "he had an unquenchable desire to bear testimony of the Father." (am i the same?)
-if you at first stumble, do not give up. if you confess your sins, do not look back.
-don't avoid personal contemplation or guilt conscious. you can always be forgiven, you can always change.
-you are not perfect, but you are moving along and trying.
-"come unto Him."

i'm astounded that i was able to hear the Prophet last week, President Packer on Sunday, and Elder Ballard--as well as a member of the 70 next Sunday. God is so good to us.

don't you wish you were at this lunch?

life is great. i don't want to waste any of my time here on earth--and hoping that i am making the best use of time. i'm realizing i can't do it all....and thats okay, but thats why we have our Father in Heaven's help. (read this talk for more on that) i also realized, that there is no such thing as mid-terms. its just more colleges ideas of continuous test and projects due all at the same time, every time. only 6 more weeks in the semester. and right now, the word on my mind is: endure.

but remember, this life is not to just be endured but to be happy along the way.

the adventures of a super tourist: day dos

Greetings from D.C.
first off, you need {yes, a necessity} to know that there aren't very many things cooler in this world than D.C. OK that doesn't say alot since I've been sheltered most of my life, but, from what i have experienced in this 18 year old self....is that D.C. is awesomespice.
the kiddos with their favorite auntie em on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial
We than visited the Korean War Memorial. Which was awesome. It was a series of life sized soldier statues of different nationalities who helped served. "Freedom is not Free."One of the coolest parts was the flag precessional they performed with sons of vietnam soldiers. They laid an honorary wreath and played "Taps" on a bugal.
the gold stars behind us represent those died in WWII. Each star represents 100 soldiers lost.
than we took a picnic and played a "rough" game of Vance Family Football.
And than we were craving some LOCAL FLAVOR. So we stopped for a burger. Correction. This was not ordinary burger.
it was a HELL burger. Literally. We stopped at "Rays Hell Burger." {you might be interested to know that President Obama took the prime minister from some country there too....} yeah. This place was a hole in the wall. No exaggeration. They shared the same entrance with a mexican restaurant! But holy smokes. I could feel my arteries clogging just by smelling the air from the outside. You get the idea.
i've never ate a hearty burger before in my entire life.

a celebratory weekend

alright, alright, i'll get off my high horse now from the celebration wagon. but it was fun while it lasted. so friends, thanks for letting me gloat.
now, i'm attemepting to get back to one of the reasons and sole purpose of this blog. a bit of fashion. i like to dabble in fashion from time to time. And i have self entitled myself as the family Julia's woman of approval for her clothes (for the record, i usually approve since she's wearing my clothes most of the time.)
{everything thrifted, earrings F21}

So...from now on, i'll be pretending that i know how to wear fashion. I like to fake it til i make it.
And until i see anything but rain i might venture outside to take a few pictures with my new camera.
Any ideas on what I should name my new baby?

For some more interesting news....
i tried my hand at some baking. Be excited.

These weren't no ordinary cupcakes. Thanks to my friend, Julie, who made them and brought them to our Biology class, {it was definitely the cupcakes that made me ace the test!} they have brownies in them too. Brownies & cake mix. It was like heaven in your hands. Friends try it.
I may or may not have had alot of them.
But once you've made them, than you won't be judging me for how many I ate.

p.s. I broke the law. I wore stripes and polka dots today. And this sweater out of my momma's closet.
So i'm doing my civic duty and posting it up on clothed much's blog.

oh my life right now.

do you see this....i MADE it....with my bare hands.

it was Friday night. emily had a really hot date. oh wait, scratch that. I was home, with momsie and popsie in my sweats and salvation army ugly sweater that i wore for my ugly sweater party. when mom returned from the grocery store, she ordered me to make homemade pizza. i'm pretty sure she said it would be good for me. so after neglecting the responsibility for 2 hours, i decided to look up a recipe. how come no one told me the dough needed to rise for a total of 2 hours! so in the process of making it, i decided that making it rise twice must be some minor technicality, so i skipped the step and went forward. when i came to another step i was unsure about, i called mom, no answer, i called meredith, no answer (really, I called them multiple times hoping the more and more i called they would answer.) no luck. so i bet on my lucky stars and kept working on the pizza. and voila!  it didn't turn out too bad! it wasn't papa johns worthy status, but it was definitely edible. and to me, if its edible, than theres nothing wrong with it. that might explain why i've ate this pizza everyday for the past five days. and i decided to go back to my elementary school days and dip it in ranch. and despite what you may think, i will never go back. it was so good. in fact, it might be what that pizza needed--especially for the crust. so, three claps for emily for attempting to be domestic and getting over her fears of cooking! college, should be a cinch!

finals update: 3 down, 3 to go. I should be lucky to get 3 A's this semester due to my recent lack of motivation. but...to leave you with a good quote for the day.

"Buid you lives on a foundation of truth and righteousness. It is the only foundation that will stand the pressures of this life and endure through the eternities."

give a virtual hello to julia!

hello from Jacobs Lake! We got to talk to julia for a bit {usually up ALL the cabins limited internet!}but it was worth it! We miss her...but she is loving it down there. She's been training in the gift shop, waitressing, office work, the whole nine yards. Each night all the employees get together for some sort of game or activity. Although, on Saturday nights---its Sunday School.

so. julia's face is the peak of our excitement for today.

and...
I said goody-bye to my last "real food" meal! thats right. I will be drowning myself in all LIQUIDS. not by choice...but with jaw problems, wisdom teeth coming in full force, and a sore throat mean...i don't get to eat real-delicious-lucious-yummy-food until who knows how long.
so i'm extremely open to any kind of yummy liqified recipes you have. i'll need them.

what i'm dreaming of

did this just make your mouth water alittle bit? yeah. mine did too. I REALLY want to make them....but knowing that mom leaves tomorrow means i'll have little to no self control. So i'm saving to make them at thanksgiving where I don't feel any part guilty indulging in a few extra calories. Okay, now that i've all made you dying to make them...i'm going running. :)

find recipe here on my most favorite blog ever!

let me tell you

OK. So I know you all are just fascinated with my life...and so thats why I have a blog of course. To update you, etc. Well, here is my week in review: WEEK 4 til SUMMER
Nothing really exciting happened until Wednesday: Mutual "Prom" with Laurels and Priests. I didn't care too much for anything but the food. It was delicious! Although we ate with china, and were required to use proper ettiqute...it was still fun. Okay, one more rave about the food. So good. Do i sound a bit like Seriously So Blessed, yet? :) Why do i like how i look here better than when i looked for prom? oh well, its besides the point...even more frustrating, I woke up like 20 mins. before this!
THURSDAY: First Springfest...as a junior. Pitiful, I know. But...it was more out of force than will and suprisingly, I had so much fun! Julie and I ran the Key Club table amazingly well. We served ice cream and sundaes and even though we probably made $10 tops...it was still fun nonetheless. And, it went smoothly, thanks to us being completely prepared. Now the story of the wet clothes. Yes, you may mistake this for more jumping into the pool...but you're wrong. This was the after-math of a very intense-amusing-hilarious-fun-water fight with two of my favorite & hardest teacher. Ironic how that is. Ms. Lundberg (IB English) and Mr. Daley (IB History). It was awesome. I wish i could describe it...but we got plenty of stares from everyone. I got them pretty dang good with numerous suprise attacks...which required me to utilize the boys bathroom in order to full up my buckets in time for when they would walk past the booth. Today, I truly enjoyed being a high schooler.
THURSDAY PM: This is the glorious heaven I came home to after work tonight...I LOVE STRAWBERRIES. This means SUMMER.
And...for the record. The solution to all life's problems is a bowl of Raisin Bran with strawberries. :)

Is it a BOY or GIRL?

This weekend has felt like Thanksgiving everyday...and the picture can help prove my point. So this is either the results of looking 3 months pregnant, or my sweet skills of pushing my stomach out really well. I'd like to think its the latter. :) (alright, I confess, I'm not pregnant, don't worry mom & dad)

MLIA

I would like to think MLIA (My life is Average). But to say that, would be considered a lie. Despite it not being average, I believe I have had some events lately that believe it would be MLIA worthy.

Side note MLIA website, it one of my websites lately, however, warning: sometimes they can be lame, gross, and absurd, and some can be quite and utterly histarical.

MLIA moment:
I was in WinCo, like mentioned earlier, on the eve before Christmas eve, only to find myself stranded in the dairy section--ultimately the worst place to be stuck...its freezing--and debating on wether to buy Pillsbury cinnamon rolls or cresent rolls. This was a delicate decision that i put much thought into. Anyways, when I made my choice, I went to place the cans of heaven in my basket, only to find it GONE! For the Second time this month, my grocery cart was stolen. Honestly, the first time it only had epsom salt and matches--who would want that! Now this time, after an hours worth of food gathering, i wasn't going to let this go. I soon found the man with my cart and demanded it back.

Number of times stolen this month: 2
The gender both times: Male
Emotion: Shocker.
